This guide has been created to facilitate your improvement as a writer. In order to become more effective communicators through writing, we need to engage in sustained, rigorous revision. As Anne Lamott described in "Shitty First Drafts," it is never the case that our first draft is the strongest representation of the topic; she even notes that it might take multiple revisions. For this reason, we can conceptualize our first draft and our submitted draft as equally worthy of revision. To this end, you might find the information available here to be beneficial in your pursuit to earn back up to half the missing credit from the prior submission.
NOTE: The information contained here corresponds to the rubrics I have developed for my classes and use when grading. As a result, if you are not one of my students, what you find here might be of limited assistance.
